Because the existing walkway from the shore to the lighthouse tower is unserviceable, the Friends of the Doubling Point Light had to temporarily stop all public access to the lighthouse property. Now, your generous donations are urgently needed to help raise the substantial funds needed to build a new 130-foot-long walkway. This will be a major endeavor and the most expensive restoration project to date for our small Non-profit. With your help, the Friends volunteers are determined to rebuild this majestic walkway in the likeness of its original, impressive appearance as soon as possible. Then, we can reopen and welcome delighted visitors to this historic Kennebec River beacon.
